What happens when I purchase solar?

Going green with solar couldn’t be easier! We’ve taken away the complex in-person surveys, the endless photo requirements and all the hidden extra costs.

To purchase solar from us, the best place to start is with our simple online quoting tool, where you can obtain an initial quote in less than 30 seconds. Simply click on “shop” and choose the solar option. We’ll ask you a few questions about your property and to select the location of your roof on a map. Once you’ve done this, we’ll make a recommendation based on what you’ve told us and provide you with an initial quote. If everything on the quote is correct and the system size is suitable for your property and usage, this is the price you’ll pay!

You'll follow our 5-step process

Obtaining an initial quote

At the quote stage, you can configure your package the way you want, to see how our system types, number of panels and adding battery storage affects the price and your potential energy savings. Once you’re happy with that, you can select how you’d prefer to pay for the system and continue through.

It’s important to note that at this point you haven’t committed to anything and we’re still capturing details to produce your ideal system. What happens next? Our team will review the information you’ve provided and produce a detailed installation proposal and arrange a virtual consultation with you. During this, we’ll understand your requirements and take your actual energy consumption figures. We’ll include these in all our calculations for your proposal to ensure it’s accurate for your usage and not a generic calculation.

Once we have all the information and produced a quote, we’ll send this over to you with no obligation. Within the quote you’ll find information on the products we have selected for your system, warranty details, energy production details, return on investment calculations, and importantly, the total cost of the system.

1 - Accepting the quote

If you’re happy with the quote, you can proceed online, or contact us to make any changes to it. Online you can select your payment method and apply for the loan if this is how you wish to pay. Once your order is confirmed, it’s over to us to make all the arrangements.

We will contact you and ask for some basic information about your property and photos to help us understand where equipment could be installed. During this time, we’ll make all the required applications and obtain all approvals dependant on the specific system that you have selected. Although we can’t begin to install some systems until we’ve obtained approval, we’ll still be working on getting everything organised in the background for the installation.

2 & 3 - Approval and installation preparation

We’ll contact you as soon as possible to confirm a suitable installation day. We take care of arranging all labour, materials and scaffolding to ensure the installation goes ahead without issue. The scaffolding may be erected a couple of days prior to the install and will remain shortly after the installation. We do this to confirm everything is working and to minimise disruption to you if we did notice that somethings not quite right and we need to fix it.

Before we can confirm an installation date, we may need approval from your Distribution Network Operator (DNO) to install the system. Depending on the size of the system, we may not need approval, however many systems do. Until we have approval to install the system, we can make arrangements in the background, however work cannot commence until we have this.

Times vary for approvals and can be as little as a few weeks, however they can also take up to 45 days depending on who your supplier is and how busy they are.

4 - Installation

Depending on the equipment that you have selected, we’ll normally arrange for scaffolding to be erected a couple of days prior to the actual install, to make sure that we can get cracking right away.

Equipment will be brought on the day of install, or delivered whilst the installers are on-site, meaning you don’t have to store it anywhere in advance. The installation itself will vary depending on the complexities of your property and the type of system you’re having installed. A typical solar system can be installed in 2-3 days, but this may be longer if you are having battery storage installed at the same time.

5 - Post-installation

Once the installation has been completed, we’ll work on making all the required notifications and certificates. We’ll produce a full handover pack that will be sent to you once all the required information has been obtained and all notifications submitted. This is only for your records and there is nothing further you need to do.
