Registering your solar or storage warranty
Once your solar and/or battery storage system has been installed, it’s beneficial to ensure that all your warranties are correctly registered to enable you to make the most of a manufacturer warranty claim, should you need it.
Although we will set up your products to the back-office and monitoring systems during installation and handover, this will not always link the warranty to the specific customer, or fully activate the warranty.
If your products don’t come with a warranty card in the handover pack, the manufacturers website, or labels attached to the equipment can provide you with the information you need to get these registered. If you’re unsure of what to do, speak to our team who will be more than happy to help.
Why do I need to register for the warranty?
As with many products, warranty terms may state that the user must register the warranty for their specific product within a set period from purchase/installation.
Many manufacturers’ warranties provide benefits to the user when registered, including extended warranty periods that may be available for specific models of products.
An example of the benefit of registering a warranty could be with a Solax inverter, where models generally come with a 5-year warranty as standard, however certain models also include an additional 5-year component warranty. All that’s needed to take advantage of this is to set the product up on their monitoring platform, which we take care of, and for the customer to register it.
If there is a fault with the equipment in the future and you attempt to claim on the warranty if the product has not been correctly registered, the manufacturer may not honour the warranty and may not provide the extended warranty period.
If I have Egg cover for my products, how does the manufacturer warranty affect this?
Whilst any Egg cover you have on your products can support in resolving defects with the equipment, Egg take care of all this through the manufacturers warranty claim process, meaning you don’t have to. We also cover many things warranty typically wouldn’t, such as labour, access and call out charges.
If your product is outside of manufacturer warranty, or the equipment is no longer eligible for manufacturer warranty (due to misuse or failure to register the product for example), Egg may not be able to repair the faults with your product.
How do I register my warranty?
Each manufacturer may allow you to register your products in a different way, however most can be done in only a couple of minutes through their website. If you search for the manufacturer of your product and “register warranty”, you should easily be able to find the correct page. This should provide you with alternative methods of registering the warranty, via phone or postal submission, if this is easier for you.
When registering your product, you will need specific product information, such as the model and serial number of the product, along with the installation date. Depending on the equipment, this information may be printed on a label on the equipment itself, in the handover pack we have sent to you, or available through the back-office/monitoring platform.
