House moves and EV chargers
Moving home can be exciting, stressful and everything other than simple. That’s why we’ve broken down our EV charger move options to make it as simple as possible.
When moving home, we understand that you may want to take your existing charger with you, however this may not actually make the most financial sense. Did you know that selling a property with an EV charger fitted can increase the value of your property?!
If you’re wanting to move your existing charger, you will need an Electrician to attend and remove the charger from your current property. You will then need to keep hold of all the equipment and move it to your new property.
Depending on the condition of your electrical systems, electrical supply locations and existing electrical equipment at the new property, you will need an Electrician to install the charger, however you may also need additional works such as earthing upgrades, longer cable routes, or even groundworks. Depending on the condition and length of your existing equipment such as supply cables and ancillary equipment, you may also need a new cable run. Due to the number of variables and the potential costs of installing at the new property, it very rarely works out cheaper to move your existing charger.
What are my options?
- If you wish to have your old charger moved to your new property, we can supply you with the details of a manufacturer approved electrician to move the charger for you. They will arrange any costs directly with you, to provide you with the best pricing.
- If you wish to source your own private electrician to move the charger, you can do so, however this will invalidate the manufacturer’s warranty if they are not manufacturer certified.
- If your charger is moved using option 1 or 2, although Egg Plus cover can remain to protect your charger, any issues caused by the installation and relocation of the charger must be rectified by the installer and will not be covered under the Egg Plus cover.
- If you are moving the charger to a new property, please forward proof of your new address to our team to ensure our records are up to date.
- Leave your charger at the existing property and purchase a new one. Our fixed price costs include the charger and installation, meaning there are no nasty surprises. Factoring in the costs of moving an existing charger, most people find that this makes more sense financially and remove the stress of arranging everything yourself. Not to mention that you can choose a different brand of charger or change the tethering type if you fancy a change!
- You can choose to pay for your new charger using our 0% financing options, whilst still paying off the old charger. If you wish to pay off the balance of your old charger before purchasing a new one, that’s fine too.
- For our financing options, you will be required to pass a credit check. If you wish to pay upfront for your new charger, you will not be credit checked.
- If you’re moving home and no longer need the Egg Plus cover, get in touch with our team to discuss your options. This is also covered in the T&Cs you agreed to during sign up if you wish to read through your options.
